Postoperative Care and Recovery for Oral SurgeryOral surgery comes with many unknown and anxiety-causing factors. However, if you follow the right post-care and recovery instructions given by your oral surgeon, the recovery process is likely to be very smooth and hassle-free.

What to Expect After Oral Surgery

Once you come home after getting an oral surgery done, there are a few normal complications that typically occur that you expect during the healing process.

•  If you've gotten a tooth extracted, bleeding is likely to occur for up to 24 hours. Your oral surgeon will also give you some gauze to prevent bleeding. However, if the bleeding continues to occur even after 24 hours, it is best to consult your dentist.
•  Alongside bleeding, you can also expect some pain and swelling, for which your dentist will prescribe some medication for pain management.
•  Tooth sensitivity is also a common occurrence which can be prevented by following proper dental hygiene habits.

Postoperative Care for Oral Surgery

When you get oral surgery done, post-surgery care is extremely vital for a proper and smooth recovery.

•  Follow all the instructions and care guide given to your by your dentist.
•  Make sure to take the pain medication to prevent the pain and other symptoms like swelling, bleeding, and sensitivity.
•  Be conscious of your oral hygiene and take care of the surgical site by keeping it clean in order to prevent the risk of infection and wound.
•  Be gentle when brushing your teeth because if you do it roughly, it will delay the healing process.
